Ratcliffe College is an HMC, co-educational Catholic independent school in Leicestershire that welcomes pupils from the ages of 3-18 (boarding from the age of 9).
It was founded in 1847 and consists of fantastic ‘Victorian Gothic’ buildings. The buildings have been continuously added to, including a Nursery in 1998, the development of the Junior School in 2001 and a state-of-the-art Preparatory School in 2014. As a result of this Ratcliffe College offers a rounded and fulfilling continuous education on a single campus. In 2013 Ratcliffe College was awarded A top Independent Co-Ed Boarding School.
The School also has a modern sports centre, offering an indoor swimming pool. The swimming pool was built in 1980 and was at the stage where a refurbishment was required.
SA Pool Systems were initially in contact with Ratcliffe College in January 2015. In February 2015 our Contracts Manager and Managing Director completed a site visit with the Facilities Manager from the College. They were all in agreement that the swimming pool and poolside walkway was looking very tired and dated. We were asked to provide a quotation for a full pool refurbishment and new non-slip flooring throughout. In March 2015 we were highly delighted to receive confirmation of the order for the works. Both parties agreed that the summer holidays would be the most convenient time to carry out the works. Prior to July, when the work commenced, several more site visits took place to finalise the specifics of the works and the colour scheme.
In July 2015 the work commenced and within 5 weeks the whole project was completed in time for the start of the new school year.
The Facilities Manager, all of the staff and the Governing Body all agree that the completed works look fantastic.
“Due to the age of the pool and the previous finishes that have been applied, it was not an easy project but was managed well. The finished products, both the pool itself and the surrounding floor, were completed on time and both look superb. We are very pleased with the result.”
