Flume maintenance is vital to ensure that you are getting the most out of your equipment while also ensuring its lifespan. Here are a few things to look out for to maintain your flumes:
Periodically checking your flume flow is one of the most important parts of pool maintenance. Start by examining your flow ensuring it has the correct velocity as it ensures your flume. The flow should be in a subcritical state so that the device is able to accelerate it to the superficial state. Then go on to check for surging and turbulence as this can interfere with your flumes performance.
Over your flumes lifespan, there are a number of issues that may impact the accuracy of your measurements. Firstly you should ensure that your flume is at the correct level and is in the centre of your flow stream especially if you have outdoor applications where scouring or frost could shift your flume out of place. You can then begin to access the inside of your flumes looking for any signs of damage or corrosion.
Finally, you can begin to access your upstream and downstream channels to ensure there aren’t any blockages or debris that could interrupt the flow avoiding blockages.
